November rehearsal a huge success!!
November 14, 2005

November's Alumni corps rehearsal saw quite a few new additions and some of our Favorite Things.

The corps started out the day taking some time to meet the people around them. People from all over the country came and took part. It was impressive to hear all the years of drum corps experience in the room. The Corps was introduced to some of its new staff members and then proceeded to break out and learn new routines.

The Brass ensemble found themselves under the direction of new technician Matt Krempasky. Matt, a former arranger for Crossmen, Spirit of Atlanta, and the Buccaneers, began a new approach to playing. He worked heavily on technique and a new approach to warm-ups. The hornline then spent the afternoon learning the ending to Land of Make Believe, and starting My Favorite Things. By the end of the afternoon Matt had the line of 60 horns sounding like 1973 all over again! The new and much larger contra section and absolutely smokin' soprano section helped bring to life Larry Kerchner's classic chart!

The Color Guard spent the afternoon learning the work for Pagliacci/Land of Make Believe. Matt Hurley had the Bridgemen ladies looking amazing by the end of the day. They learned the entire tune and made it look easy! Once again the guard is shaping up to be a real strength for the corps!

The Percussion ensemble saw quite a few new players on new instruments. The drumline spent the day working through In the Stone and got the entire line up to speed with this very demanding DeLucia chart.

The end of the day saw the entire ensemble come together, and come together they did! The entire corps performed Battle Hymn of the Republic and In the Stone to the delight of the crowd that showed up to watch. The Brass and guard then performed the opener of Pagliacci/Land of Make Believe. “It's hard to believe that this chart is as far along as this already,” said Business Manager and guard instructor Nancy Ducharme. “I hope we can keep this momentum going over the next few months!” The hornline then tore the roof of the gym with the entire chart of My Favorite Things.

The day came to a great conclusion with a warm embrace and some good food provided by the corps. The entire body was anxious for next rehearsal and a chance to get even better.
