Halloween Paaaaaarty at the haunted Yacht Club!
October 27, 2006

Robbins Reef Yacht Club - Bayonne NJ - Rodney as Fred, Kelly as Betty, John as Joan, Dondi as Pedro, George as Dondi .... well EVERYBODY as Dondi (Ken Donovan). Confused? You probably should be, it was a mixed up bunch of Bridgemen getting their freak on at the 1st Annual Bridgemen Halloween Bash.

I've been asked to reflect upon the evening's events for the benefit of those NOT in attendance this past Friday. Though I am normally of the “What happens in Bayonne STAYS in Bayonne” mindset, I figured it was just too weird not to share with my friends. So let's just put this in Blog form and I will let you all fill in the EERIE blanks! So let's tour the evening ....

Barney arrives early with Wilma (yeah Wilma .... scandalous). Walks into the bar as the only guy with a costume. Some fast talking, a quick cocktail and the very cute Wilma, are the ONLY reasons this Barney didn't find himself stuffed in a laundry chute somewhere in the haunted Yacht Club.

Patty Ann Meehan .... We never knew. Long blonde hair ala Sarah Jessica Parker, tight dress and SILVER shoes (not to mention the tube socks???) .... and I quote .... I can't !!! 'Nuff said there.

Beloved director George .... A two dimensional Dondi mask .... and a bunch of photos later .... VIOLA we now have the “Where's Dondi Tour 2007.” As I have said time and again .... George: Best Costume. Tour details will be drawn up, and I am sure awards will be given.

“Paradise by the Dashboard Light” .... We can drum and we can bugle for sure, but we really .... can't sing. Sorry guys and gals we should ALL stick with our day jobs. Special thanks here to Doug K. for reminding me that I sing the BOYS part.

John Matos: What can I say? Many a night I will be awakened with a sweaty start! I'll never look at grandma in the same light. But you were still cuter (marginally) than Irene. Sorry Irene, I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

How about those ladies in the guard .... The Electric Slide, Cotton Eye Joe, and The Macarena performed with precision by Gail, Kelly, Patty Ann, Toni et al. You guys are truly impressive .... Matt Hurley has to put some moves in the show for you guys.

Just a note of caution to all of you out there: When buying costumes for others .... Be sure they try them on BEFORE the party starts. Fred knows what I am talking about. Fortunately for all in attendance, all parts remained covered and catastrophe was once again averted (though narrowly).

Hey Rob Hunter: I like the costume. A “Dirty Martini” never looked better, and can you really “smoke” a witches broom?? .... Hey Dennis: if you need a tambourine player, Dianne's your girl!! But .... she has to wear the wig. We had it all going on that night, ladies and gents.

I could go on like this for hours but I will leave it at that. Once again, I partied with my Bridgemen fraternal family in music and I am left with memories for a lifetime. I've put away the Sweaty Barney costume and am turning my eyes to this upcoming season's events. Stay tuned .... there is always a story to tell. God I love this stuff.

Ummm ....... This story raises more questions than it answers. Sounds like we all need to be there NEXT year to know what the heck's going on!
